Face Care For a Healthy Glowing Face

Date: 05 February, 2010

If your face care routine consists of washing your face twice a day with soap, then it is high time you reworked it. You need to take a little more care of your face as it is more sensitive than the rest of the body and is always exposed to external elements.

Most of us are too enamored with using multiple make up products on our face. We are so overwhelmed with products like concealers, foundation mousse, eyeliners, eye glitters, lip plumper, etc. that we tend to forget the face all this applied on. Irrespective of the amount of make up you use it is the beauty of the skin that matters. If you want to look good with or without make up you need to take good care of your face. A fresh looking face starts with a cleanser.

The right cleanser is essential for proper care. The type of cleanser will depend on your skin type whether it is normal, dry of oily. The right type of cleanser will work to its full potential to take care of your face. Look for natural cleansers to avoid any side affects.

Regular use of the right cleanser is the first step to a radiant skin. Pick a gentle non pore clogging (non comedogenic) cleanser. Frequent washing of your face will make the skin dry. This activates the oil glands to produce excessive oil leading to unhealthy skin. If you have acne prone skin, use special cleansers which contain ingredients like benezoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. These help make your skin ready for acne treatments. Don’t overdo, two face washes a day are enough.

After a good cleanse the face will need a moisturizer. You may already be using a moisturizing lotion for your body, but this may not be suitable for the delicate skin of your face. You will need light non comedogenic moisture for the face. This will not clog your pores and will keep you away from acne breakouts. A suitable moisturizer will keep you face soft and smooth and will prevent itchy dryness. A dry face will easily flake and may also develop blemishes. A good moisturizer helps keep fine wrinkles at bay for longer.

You can provide complete protection to your skin only when you use a UV protection product, this further delays ageing of the skin. You may like the tanned look but it will only mean premature wrinkles in the long run. Protect your skin with a moisturizer which has a minimum of 15 SPF. If you are planning to be outdoor exposed to the sun you will need a stronger SPF sunscreen.

You may take excellent care of your face but if you are not leading a healthy life it will show on the face. Excessive drinking and smoking are enemies of a radiant skin. A healthy balance diet and sufficient sleep are essential to keep that glow on your face. Relax and unwind to keep the stress and wrinkles away. Take care of your face and you will not have to resort to artificial means like surgery. -- iS
