Plus Size Fashion Bohemian Style

Date: 04 March, 2009

Women with a fuller figure can use the mix and match of clothes originating from the seventies and bring them right up to date by wearing peasant style skirts that are billowy and have masses of fabric in a circular style. These styles of skirts are best worn just above the knee and teamed with complimentary coloured tights.

For those who prefer not to show their legs long tiered gypsy skirts work equally as well. Choose a maxi skirt in this seasons bright colours or for a sexy look opt for white.

Remember to wear an under slip otherwise these floaty cotton fabrics can be very see through, particularly against bright sunlight. We all remember the famous faux pas made by Dianna prior to her engagement to the Prince of Wales - having her photograph taken and the fabric of her skirt becoming virtually transparent.

The great thing about long gypsy skirts is that they look great with flat ballet style pumps or sandals. If you have thick ankles a slight heel or wedge sandals can make them appear slimmer.

Team either a peasant or gypsy skirt with pretty tops for a cool and sleek look during the summer. If the weather's a bit chilly a shrug with crochet edging is the ideal item to wear which compliments the luxury Bohemian style brilliantly.

If a shrug is not your style the Bohemian look enables you to wear a short bodied leather jackets or a beautifully embroidered coat or a Cossack style jacket. Team these looks with charm bracelets, coin belts and fringed boots and the look is complete.

Wearing men's styles of faded denim jeans is also a must have look this season. Wear with plain shirts with the sleeves rolled up to the elbow, add chunky bangles and long beads in wood or faux jewels is a great casual look which you can wear shopping or on informal occasions.

Probably the biggest mistake larger women make is to wear clothes with no shape to them. The big baggy tee shirt may be fine for wearing in bed but shouldn't be worn outside unless you wear a belt to give it some shape!

These big baggy tee shirts may be comfortable but they do nothing whatsoever for your figure! In fact rather than hiding your body they simply give the appearance of you being much larger than you are! Define waists by wearing a belt. If your waist is your largest part choose empire style top which fit neatly over your bust and gives plenty of fabric to fall over your tummy in style!

If you tuck shirts into jeans gently pull them up and over the waistband to give a softness and gentle style.

Don't forget to buy plus size clothes, including jeans which suit your shape. The higher the waistband the larger your bottom will look! More importantly rather than trying to struggle into a pair of jeans are too small, jump up a size. Not only will they be far more comfortable they will not produce the folds across the top of the thighs which make them hang incorrectly and give the appearance that you have quite literally squeezed yourself into them!
